Toronto Fire Services responded to a two-alarm fire on Wheeler Avenue, just north of Queen Street East, in the Beach at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 8.

According to Toronto Fire, no injuries were reported in the fire.

However, several residents were displaced as crews worked to contain the fire, and Toronto Hydro addressed power outages in the area.

The fire is believed to have started when electrical wiring on the exterior of one home ignited. Flames quickly spread into the lower levels of the residence before heavy smoke travelled to two neighboring properties.

Toronto Fire said that one of the adjacent homes sustained structural damage to its interior, while the other experienced smoke-related impacts.

Firefighters remained on the scene until all safety hazards were addressed. Toronto Hydro is currently working to ensure that power is restored to all residents in the area.
