The Malvern Collegiate Institute girls and boys field lacrosse teams were both recently crowned as city champions.

The Malvern girls won the Toronto District Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TDSSAA) field lacrosse city championship in late May. Malvern topped East York Collegiate 13-0 in the city championship game on May 21 at the Cherry Beach fields.

The win marked the Malvern girls team’s fourth straight field lacrosse city championship. The team will now take part in the Trillium Cup girls field lacrosse provincial championships in Owen Sound this week. The tourney started on June 2 and concludes today.

The Malvern boys team then beat Humberside Collegiate 9-2 in the TDSSAA city championship game on May 22 at the Cherry Beach fields.

Both Malvern and Neil McNeil Catholic Secondary School will be taking part in this week’s OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) boys AAA field lacrosse championships in Owen Sound on June 4 and 5.

The championships in Owen Sound will have a strong East Toronto presence as the team from Neil McNeil on Victoria Park Avenue are the Toronto Catholic District Catholic (Colleges) Athletic Association champions for 2025 and will be representing that association at OFSAA.
