Beaches Chess Club to host outdoor festival by the Boardwalk on Sunday, May 25

The Beaches Chess Club is hosting an outdoor chess festival this Sunday at the Leuty Pavilion by the Boardwalk.

The May 25 event is being billed as the Geek Day Chess Fest and will feature matches for all levels of players including casual encounters, blitz tournaments and even a beginner’s course.

The chess fest takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Leuty Pavilion is located just to the east of the foot of Lee Avenue and north of the Boardwalk.

The Casual Encounters portion of the day will be relaxed, friendly chess matches for participants to practice their skills while having fun playing against friends.

The Blitz Tournament: The Speedrun Challenge event, which starts at noon, will be a more extreme competition focused on speed and quick thinking.

Also, for the beginners, there will be a Level Up Your Knowledges: Beginner’s Course hosted by club head Ivan Rudakov.
