Man, 47, arrested and charged after allegedly hitting e-bike rider with shopping cart on Danforth Avenue

A man is facing a number of charges, including assault with a weapon, after allegedly knocking over an e-bike rider in a bike lane on Danforth Avenue earlier this week.
According to police, the victim was riding an e-bike headed west in the Danforth Avenue bike lane near Monarch Park Avenue at approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, when a man allegedly pushed a shopping cart from the sidewalk in his path.
The e-bike rider fell and was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The male suspect was last seen walking east on Danforth Avenue.
The incident received a lot of publicity on Wednesday, April 30, after images of the incident were released on social media and by a Toronto lawyer.
In a news release on the morning of Thursday, May 1, police said a 47-year-old man and had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Nektarios Manimanakis, 47, of Toronto has been charged with mischief endangering life, assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm.
