Danforth Collegiate squash team takes second spot in Emerging Division at recent Jim Mason Cup tourney

Top Ontario high school squash players were in East Toronto recently to compete in the 2025 Jim Mason Cup.
Sanctioned by the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA), and hosted by Toronto’s Earl Haig Secondary School, the provincial tournament took place at the Mayfair Lakeshore club on April 10 and 11.
The team tournament provides high school squash players of all levels the opportunity to represent their schools and compete in a fun and inclusive event.
There were three divisions and close to 160 students participating in the tourney which featured lots of energy and excitement.
Locally, the top results came from the Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute team who finished second in the Emerging Division.
First place in the Emerging Division went to Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School from Sarnia; while third place was taken by Notre Dame College School from Welland.
The Division 1 champs at the Jim Mason Cup were Toronto’s Northern Secondary School. Second place in that division went to Toronto’s Lawrence Park Collegiate, while North York’s C.W. Jeffreys Collegiate was third.
The Jim Mason Cup was sponsored by the Jesters of Ontario, who made sure all the players at the Mayfair Lakeshore club received an amazing player package and experience over the two days of the tournament.
Plans are in the works to make the 2026 Jim Mason Cup an even bigger event.
