New coffee bar ESPRO preparing to open its doors in the Beach

There’s a new reason to get excited about mornings in the Beach. ESPRO, the Toronto-based company celebrated globally for its innovative coffee brewing products, is opening its first-ever coffee bar – right in the heart of the Beaches community.
Located at 2102 Queen St. E in the former Juice and Java, ESPRO is a state-of-the-art space designed for discovery, connection, and exceptional coffee.
The stunning interior is the work of IV Design Studio, the renowned Toronto firm behind some of the city’s most talked-about spaces, including the OVO Studio and Campari Canada’s immersive downtown offices.
Known for creating environments that feel both elevated and deeply personal, IV Design has brought ESPRO’s vision to life with intention, warmth, and modern edge.
“This space is all about experience,” said ESPRO owner and Beaches resident Peng Lin. “We want people to slow down, engage their senses, and enjoy coffee in a way that feels special, elevated, and social.”
At the heart of the coffee bar is a ModBar, beautifully designed by La Marzocco – an under-the-counter espresso system that removes traditional barriers between barista and guest, making the brewing process part of the experience. Guests can take a seat at the tasting bar and try curated flights of single-origin beans, each selected from award-winning roasters around the world.
“We’re using beans that have stories. Farms that are known for the highest quality and ethical practices,” said Lin. “When people come in, they’ll have the chance to try something they’ve likely never tasted before, and learn about what makes each cup different.”
The ESPRO coffee bar is a stylish, minimalist space designed for connection. Whether it’s catching up with friends, chatting with one of the knowledgeable baristas, or simply taking a quiet moment with a pour-over, the space invites guests to be fully present.
“You don’t need to be a coffee expert to enjoy what we’re doing,” said Lin.
“It’s for people who want something a little more refined, who appreciate quality, and who are looking for a spot that offers something different from the usual.”
And it’s not just the coffee that’s thoughtfully sourced. ESPRO offers a selection of gourmet pastries – including buttery croissants, gourmet muffins, and bolle med ost, a Danish bun that’s crisp on the outside and tender within, served simply with a slice of creamy cheese. Each item is chosen to perfectly complement ESPRO’s signature drinks and elevate the overall café experience.
For Lin, opening the coffee bar in the Beach feels like coming full circle.
“My family and I moved to the Beach a few years ago, and we completely fell in love with the community,” he said.
“There’s a friendliness here, a sense of neighbourhood, that’s really special. It made sense to bring ESPRO’s first location to the place we now call home.”
ESPRO is set to officially opens its doors this May, and if the buzz is any indication, it won’t take long for this sleek new spot to become a favourite hangout for both locals and visitors alike.
