Federal Election 2025: Final list of candidates in Beaches-East York, Scarborough Southwest and Toronto-Danforth ridings released by Elections Canada

A federal election will take place on April 28, 2025.

Nominations for candidates seeking to run in this month’s federal election closed on April 7, and Elections Canada has now posted the final list of those running for office in ridings across the country.

Locally, Beach Metro Community News will be covering the races in the ridings of Beaches-East York, Scarborough Southwest and Toronto-Danforth.

Voters are reminded that Election Day is Monday, April 28.

Shannon Devine – NDP

The Elections Canada Returning Office for the Beaches-East York riding is located at 2575 Danforth Ave., and can be reached by phone at 1-866-236-8618. The Returning Officer for Beaches-East York is Jeff Paulin.

Residents in the riding of Beaches-East York will have a chance to learn more about some the candidates running in the riding at a meeting set for Wednesday, April 23, at Kingston Road United Church. Candidates from the Liberal, Conservative, NDP and Green parties (the parties that had seats in the House of Commons when the election was called at the end of March) have been invited to take part. The candidates meeting will be moderated by Alan Carter of CityNews. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and Kingston Road United Church is located at 975 Kingston Rd.

Scarborough Southwest voters can learn more about their candidates at a forum slated for Wednesday, April 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre, 313 Pharmacy Ave. So far, candidates and Blair, Shaban, and Cain are scheduled to attend the forum which is being presented by a number of local organizations including Scarborough United Neighhourhoods (SUN).

The forum will begin at 7 p.m. with opening statements from each candidate, followed by a moderated debate and a Q&A session. Residents wishing to attend can register in advance, but capacity is limited to 150 seats and will be managed on a first-come, first-seated basis.
