Laughs Without Limits show set for Comedy Bar on Danforth Avenue

By ISABELLE FERNANDES
The Comedy Bar in East Toronto is bringing the Disability Privilege show Laughs Without Limits to its stage this month.
Hosted by Blair ‘TheHandy’ Williams with Black Zeus as the headliner, the first show of this year is set for the night of Monday, Jan. 20.
The lineup for Monday’s show will also include Tia Percy and co-producer Jared Nathan.
Laughs Without Limits was created and produced by Nathan and Williams to provide a chance to perform for comedians with disabilities ranging from physical to mental.
They said the need for the show was “born out of necessity”.
Nathan and Williams both work with Disability Privilege to open stages for comedians with accessibility issues and to spread the conversation about creating more accessible venues across Canada.
“No one should face segregation based on their mobility. By having non-disabled comics collaborate with and perform for people with disabilities, we’re fostering a deeper understanding of accessibility and breaking down barriers in the comedy scene,” said Nathan.
Tickets for the Jan. 20 show are $20 online, and $25 at the door.
Located at 2800 Danforth Ave., the Comedy Bar is well known for being barrier free and offers one of the few comedy venues in the country that is fully accessible to comics (to get on stage) and audiences alike.
