Two men, one woman arrested and charged in connection with shooting death of Quebec man near Woodbine Beach

Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting near Woodbine Beach last summer that took the life of a 21-year-old Quebec man.
Dacia Mbongo of Mascouche (a suburb of Montreal) died on the night of Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024 after being shot in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard East and Joseph Duggan Road.
According to police reports in August, a group of males were arguing in the area and then a number of gunshots were heard at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 8.
Mbongo was found in a laneway east of Joseph Duggan Road by officers responding to the reports of shots being heard. He was rushed to hospital where he later died.
The shooting was in the Pleasantville neighbourhood, northwest of the Woodbine Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard East area just north of Woodbine Beach.
Mbongo was Toronto’s 52nd homicide of 2024.
On Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, police announced that warrants were executed that day by officers in Toronto and Durham Region in connection with the investigation and that two men and one woman were charged.
Ricardo Wills, 18, of Toronto, has been charged with second degree murder and robbery.
Kenneth Neil, 26, of Ajax, has been charged with second degree murder and robbery.
Lukiara Hunter-Wilmot, 19, of Toronto, has been charged with manslaughter and robbery.
Mbongo was one of six children in his family, according to a story about him in Le Journal de Montreal last September.
His father Prince said his son had been in Toronto in early August after being promoted at the bank he worked at and was planning to return home soon to Quebec.
Mbongo was a graduate of George Brown College in Toronto with a diploma in Information and Telecommunications and was a leader in his family, his father told Le Journal de Montreal.
The family moved to Canada from the Congo in 2015 and settled in Mascouche, Quebec.
