Both the TTC and Go Transit will be offering free rides this New Year’s Eve so those celebrating the arrival of 2025 can travel safely through the city and beyond.

The free transit rides will be available from 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 31) through until 8 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

Also, the UP Express which travels between Union Station and Pearson Airport will be offering free rides on New Year’s Eve.

The TTC has partnered with sponsor Corby Spirits and Wine to cover the cost of the free transit rides for tonight and New Year’s Day morning.

The service is being promoted under the banner the “Wiser Way Home” as part of Corby’s J.P. Wiser whisky brand. This is the 10th year that Corby’s has sponsored the free TTC rides on New Year’s Eve as part of the #CorbySafeRides campaign.

“For over a decade, the goal has been simple: empower Canadians to prioritize safety,” said Kevin de Graaf, Senior Brand Manager at Corby, in a news release. “Having J.P. Wiser’s sponsor Wiser Way Home is a seamless extension of our values to give back in a way that keeps our community connected.”

To date, the program has provided more than 2.6 million free rides to people celebrating New Year’s Eve in Toronto as part of the annual campaign.

The free GO Transit service on New Year’s Eve is sponsored by Forty Creek Whisky.

“Forty Creek is committed to creating better experiences – whether that’s a better whisky drinking experience, or a better New Year’s Eve experience for Ontarians. With New Year’s Eve around the corner, it’s important that people both drink responsibly and get home safely with better transportation options,” said David Allard, Vice President of Marketing at Campari Canada, in a news release.

“We saw the impact from last year’s partnership and we’re proud to continue encouraging responsible consumption and affordable, safe transportation through GO Transit and UP Express.”

Leading up tonight’s New Year celebrations, Forty Creek and Metrolinx are reminding commuters about the free rides with a custom wrapped GO train, within stations and across other customer channels.

Both GO Transit and UP Express services will be free to all customers on New Year’s Eve from 7 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025.

Special UP Express trains have been added and will depart Union Station every 30 minutes between 1:15 a.m. and 3:45 a.m., making all regular stops to Pearson Airport.

In addition, GO Transit will run extra late evening trips into Union Station to help customers travelling downtown, as well as a variety of special trains from Union Station after midnight to help them get home safely:

  • Lakeshore East and West Lines: There will be additional trips arriving and departing regularly at Union Station throughout Dec. 31.
