By AUNALYA TURNER
A launch party for The Reindeer Cafe Cookbook: Tasty Treats from the North Pole, written by local resident Loredana Cunti, is set for the Beaches Sandbox, 2181 Queen St. E., on Sunday, Dec 15, at 3:30 p.m.
The Christmas cookbook is for families, children and friends. Proceeds from the book’s sale go to StepStones For Youth, a charity helping young people in and from foster care develop essential life skills.
Readers of The Reindeer Cafe Cookbook are invited to dive into a world of holiday cooking with delightful recipes, vibrant illustrations and storytelling, easy to follow instructions, expert tips and bonus recipes, and interactive experiences.
For instance, the Santa’s Treat Tracker Map will help readers learn about the many ways around the world to say “Enjoy your meal”! The book also includes an introduction to kitchen basics with accessibility in mind, as well as tips on table manners with Mrs. Claus in her workshop Dining Hall Rules.
“I am thrilled that helping young people learn to bake and cook with this festive book is also contributing to Stepstones For Youth through this project,” said Cunti in a press release.
“Cooking is a universal language of love and creativity, and I believe that by empowering young people with these skills, we can help them build brighter futures. Together, we can spread joy and foster confidence in the kitchen for every child.”
Jackson Walker from StepStones added: “We have known Santa’s reindeer and Mrs. Claus for a long time, so when they came to us with the chance to collaborate on The Reindeer Cafe Cookbook, we said yes faster than Santa’s sleigh! Thank you to everyone in the North Pole for donating proceeds to support the youth in and from the foster care system that Stepstones for youth works to support.”
Recipes in The Reindeer Cafe Cookbook, with help from Santa’s reindeer, include classic royal icing, Prancer’s peppermint bark, Donner and Dancer’s snickerdoodles, Comet’s Chocolate cupcake tree and so much more.
East Toronto resident Cunti is a first-generation Italian-Canadian children’s author, public speaker, mother and lover of culinary tradition. She has travelled the world as head of children’s programming for Universal Studios. She is an award-winning author of five inspirational children’s books including Karate Kakapo; To Burp or Not to Burp: A Guide to Your Body in space; How to Train Like an Astronaut, Destination: Space: Living on Other Planets; and Mighty Mission Machines: From Rockets to Rovers.
Sunday’s launch part in the Beach will feature treats and hot chocolate for those attending.
