Toronto United Mennonite Church collecting holiday gift cards on behalf of Aurora House shelter for victims of gender violence and human trafficking

The Toronto United Mennonite Church (TUMC) is hosting a Gift Card Fundraiser over the holidays in support of Aurora House, a Toronto-based shelter for women and children of gender-based violence and human trafficking.

While the location of the house is not revealed for safety reasons, the organization has connections with the Toronto United Mennonite Church which is located on Queen Street East in the Beach.

The Gift Card Fundraiser is hoping to raise $4,000 to $5,000 in donations to ensure essentials for the shelter residents over the holiday season.

Those wishing to help can contribute gift cards (for grocery stores, pharmacies, other retailers), or make direct financial donations (which will go towards the purchase of needed gift cards.

Every contribution helps to provide items such as food, clothing, hygiene products and hope!

Aurora House provides shelter, long-term trauma counselling, basic needs, and essential support services to those who have been trafficked, exploited or otherwise abused in Canada with a focus on people who identify as women, as well as women with young children and expecting mothers.

Cheques can be made payable to Toronto United Mennonite Church (Memo: Aurora House Programming) by dropping off at the church, 1774 Queen St. E. Gift cards can also be dropped off at the church. Online donations can be made at https://www.aurorahouse.ca/donate
