Woman in her 30s killed in Sunday evening shooting near Danforth and Jones avenues

A woman in her 30s has died after a shooting last night in the Danforth and Jones avenues area.

Police were called to the area at 6:56 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, for reports that a shooting had taken place.

When officers arrived they arrested a man in his 20s and retrieved a gun.

The female victim, who was reportedly found inside a residence, was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead as a result of her gunshot wounds.

In a press conference at the scene Sunday night, police said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no further threat to public safety.

Police did not say if the victim and the man taken into custody knew each other.
