Man in life-threatening condition after shooting and carjacking in East Toronto; suspect arrested

A 29-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting and vehicle theft in East Toronto last night resulted in a man suffering life-threatening injuries.
The incident began in the area of Dundas Street East and River Street, one block west of the Don Valley Parkway, at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
According to police, officers were called to the area for a reported shooting and carjacking attempts.
Police alleged a man armed with a gun attempted a number of carjackings in the area. In one of those carjacking attempts, the suspect shot the driver who was inside a vehicle. The shooting victim was taken to hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.
According to a police news release issued at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, a man was walking in the Dundas and River area and approached a vehicle stopped at a red light. The man allegedly produced a handgun and shot the driver. The man then approached a number of other vehicles and allegedly fired another shot.
Police alleged the man then forced out the driver of a fifth vehicle at gunpoint and then drove away from the area.
The stolen vehicle was found shortly afterwards at a gas station at Carlaw Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard East where a man then allegedly approached another vehicle and demanded the keys. Police officers from 55 Division, 51 Division, the Hold Up Squad, the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force Centralized Shooting Response Team and the Forensic Identification Service converged on the area and the suspect was arrested a short distance away from the gas station after short foot chase.
Police said in a news conference at the gas station last night that the accused is the same man wanted for allegedly firing shots at drivers and vehicles in the Hwy. 401 and Dixie Road area of Mississauga early on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 26. That same man also allegedly later carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint in the Hwy. 401 and Hwy. 410 area.
Troy Dennis Ledrew, 29, of no fixed address, is facing a number of charges including two counts of attempted murder, six counts of robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, possession of a loaded firearm, failure to comply with probation and failure to comply with an undertaking.
