By ISABELLE FERNANDES
The Beach BIA’s Halloween on Queen celebrations begin this week and will continue through until Oct. 31.
The locally-run week-long event has something for the whole family (furry friends included) from games and prizes to candy, shopping, and more.
The fun begins on Thursday, Oct. 24, with the Pumpkin and Fries event at My Pilates Studio, 1899 Queen St. E., from 3 to 6 p.m. Presented by Polson Homes, the event is collecting donations for the Daily Bread Food Bank.
Those attending who drop off a donation of a non-perishable food item can pick up a free pumpkin and some fries from the French Fry Truck.
Nana’s Creperie is hosting a Halloween Haunted House on Oct. 25, 26 and 27, and on Oct. 29, 30 and 31. The haunted house will be open on those evenings from 7 to 10 p.m.
According to the Nana’s Creperie website, “the once cozy family-friendly crepe shop will become a labyrinth of haunted rooms, shadowy corners and mysterious figures”.
Tickets are available to those ages five and above. However, children ages seven and under and must be accompanied by an adult when they go through the haunted house. Early bird tickets are $25 and $30 at the door (one entry per person). Tickets include entry to the haunted house and after party with crepes and drinks included, as well as a chance to win a $50 gift card. On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Halloween on Queen celebrations will be focused on the business that make up The Beach BIA along Queen Street East from Neville Park Boulevard to Coxwell Avenue.
Everyone, young and old and even pets, are invited to wear their costumes and to participate in the costume contests with categories for all ages. There are many fun activities planned for the day, including “special guests” who will be handing out candy and prizes, a fortune teller and some balloon fun as well!
Admission is free and all are welcome.
Local businesses will be participating by having their own promotions as well. And on Halloween Day, Oct. 31, many local businesses will be welcoming Trick or Treaters including The Richards Group, 1945 Queen St. E., and Shop Makers The Beaches, 1984 Queen St. E.
