Danforth Comedy Festival set for this weekend and next at number of East Toronto venues

The Danforth Comedy Festival takes place this weekend and next.

The festival opens on the night of Friday, Aug. 2, with a performance of the Best Damn Stand-Up Comedy Show at the SoCap (Social Capital) comedy club at 154 Danforth Ave. Friday night’s show starts at 8 p.m.

Produced by Comedy Nuggets, under artistic director Luke Lynndale, the Danforth Comedy Festival says it will be serving up “something for all comedic tastes and funny bones” on the weekend of Aug. 2 to Aug. 4; and on Aug. 8, Aug. 9 and Aug. 10.

“The festival includes an all Indigenous show, Immigrants with Attitude, Ukrainian show, Turkish show, and a show where Toronto media personalities will be performing standups for the first time,” said the organizers in a news release.

Along with performances at the SoCap club, there will also be shows at the Comedy Bar Danforth (2800 Danforth Ave.); The Groove Bar & Grill (1952 Danforth Ave.); The Don on Danforth (15 Chisholm Ave.); and the Mystic Tea House (1775 Danforth Ave.) venues.
