East Toronto residents are being reminded that both the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway will be closed on Sunday, June 4, for a charity bike ride.
The Baycrest Bike for Brain Health event takes place that day, and road closures will be set in place early on the morning of June 4.
In a news release, Toronto police said that from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 4 the following road closures will be taking place:
The Don Valley Parkway from the Gardiner Expressway to York Mills Road; the Gardiner Expressway from South Kingsway to the Don Valley Parkway; and some additional roads surrounding Exhibition Place.
“Motorists can expect significant delays in the downtown core, particularly on the arterial roadways. Alternative routes and public transportation are strongly recommended,” police said in the news release.
Some of those alternative routes for people seeking to get in and out of downtown when the Don Valley Parkway is closed traditionally include Victoria Park Avenue and Kingston Road in East Toronto.
Local residents are reminded to be aware that there could be increased traffic on those roads on June 4.
