Beach Arts Scene

Artisans At Work celebrates its first year of existence this month. Join them for a congratulatory toast at the monthly First Friday event this Friday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The regular party serves as the opening reception for each month’s exhibition, which is following the theme of Cabinet of Curiosities for December. Music is provided by the Sidewalkers, and there is a licensed bar and snacks.

Intern curators Vicky Li and Kate Murfin have put together the Curiosities show, which is inspired by old European Cabinets of Wonder, often containing natural history, geology, archaeology and ethnography artifacts (sometimes faked), as well as religious relics, antiquities and works of art.

Also on is the winter craft show, featuring a changing group of creative folk from the East End and beyond. The craft show runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Hours are extended until Christmas, with doors open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Artisans At Work is at 2071 Danforth Ave., just west of Woodbine Avenue. Find out more at artisans-at-work.com.
