The RC Harris Filtration Plant is located on the site of the former Victoria Park, a waterfront amusement park which operated until 1906. The building of this monumental art deco facility took nine years to complete. The archival photo was taken in the third year of construction, in 1936. Today the plant provides 45 per cent of Toronto and York Region’s water supply. Do you have an old photo from the Beach you’d like to share? Please call me at 416-390-2527.
