On the northeast corner of Queen and Beech is a true Beach landmark, the Fox Cinema. The archival photograph was taken in late fall of 1934 when it was still known as the Prince Edward Theatre. Several years later the name was changed due to the stigma of King Edward’s abdication from the throne. The posters on the right of the archival photo are for the movie Cockeyed Cavaliers, starring the vaudeville team of Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey. The movie was a musical comedy set in medieval times. The actors portrayed a couple of knuckleheads trying to crash royal society by posing as king’s physicians. How fitting.
