The woman’s husband was also found, suffering from life-threatening injuries, and was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Investigators spent two days at the location piecing together what happened and on Nov. 16 revealed that it was a case of murder-suicide. Toronto Police identified the victim as 70-year-old Leonilde Cabral.

Her husband, 74-year-old Armando Cabral, had recently been suffering from a mental illness for which he was seeking treatment.

This marks the city’s 50th homicide of the year.
