Over 90 members of the Gerrard-Woodbine Neighbourhood Association (GWNA) gathered for a potluck social at the Naval Club of Toronto last weekend, with several more dropping in for the announcement many in the area had been waiting for: the winner of the ‘Name the ‘Hood’ vote that had taken place in several rounds over the previous month.
On hand for the announcement were Beaches-East York MP Matthew Kellway, Ward 32 city councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon and local historian and Beach Metro News columnist Gene Domagala. The vote team of Bill Andersen, Steve D’Souza and Shelly Baboolall counted and recounted the votes on the final four choices, and at the end of the final tally, the name ‘Beach Hill’ came out on top.
GWNA members and executive are hoping the name will grow ‘organically’, as the popularity of the top choice grew with each round of voting. For more information on the group, visit gerrardwoodbine.com.

Hi – great choice and my preferred option. I live at 21 Devon but did not get registered as a member in time to vote. Will do that asap!
Well, that will make the condo developer happy, since they’ve already chosen that name for their building…
This will always be called UPPER BEACHES. To me and to many others.
As for the condos suppose to be going up on corner… we don’t want them. In fact someone changed the name on the condo building to BEACH HELL if you haven’t already noticed.
I will always consider this the UPPER BEACHES …not BEACH HILL.
