Cobalt Gallery, 870A Kingston Rd., presents Transitions, an exhibition by new artist Carol Kavish, April 5 through 29.
“I have been painting for just over two years,” says Kavish in her artist’s statement. “I only paint large statement pieces in acrylics. My pieces are more emotionally driven which is reflected in the colours and brush strokes of my work.” The pictured work measures four feet by eight feet!

Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute’s Visual Arts Department will be holding its annual year end art show, XHIBITART12, April 24 through May 6, at the Papermill Gallery in Todmorden Mills, 67 Pottery Rd. This show showcases the work of Grade 11 and 12 visual arts students, alumni and staff.

Open Gallery, the popular gallery at Open Architects, 454 Kingston Rd., presents Architectural Photography by Bryan Wilcox, May 3 through 31. After more than 30 years of photography, he has recently taken to using a Kodak Duaflex camera – popular between 1947 and 1960 – to take photographs of interesting buildings in the city. Award-winning educator and artist Nicola Maguire is offering art classes for children from 2 to 14 years of age at the newly-opened Gerrard Art Space gallery, 1390 Gerrard St. E., in the heart of the Gerrard India Bazaar. Maguire majored in sculpture and installation at OCAD, and has been an art instructor through the TDSB for five years.
