Officers from 55 Division have begun Project Garmin.
The initiative will have uniform and non-uniform police officers throughout the division patrolling shopping areas in an effort to eliminate thefts from vehicles.
“Individuals are also a big part of this project,” said P.C. Robert McDonald who is with 55 Division’s Crime Prevention Unit.
Shoppers are advised to keep their vehicles locked at all times and to cover or hide any valuable items.
You are also asked to keep an eye out for any suspicious individuals or activities in parking lots.
If you see anything suspicious, please call police at 416-808-2222.
“It’s all about reducing the opportunity for a crime to occur and to try and make sure everyone has a safe and happy holiday season- and be a Scrooge to those who may be looking to ruin the holiday season for shoppers,” added McDonald.
