It was a full house at the Beaches Running Room on Aug. 31 as runners and community residents got a sneak peak at this year’s Toronto Waterfront Marathon Finisher’s Medal. The run will take place on Oct. 16.
The hardware, handed out to each marathoner, half-marathoner and 5K finisher, depicts a very well known Beach landmark – the Alex Christie Bandshell at Kew Gardens.
This will be the fourth in the ‘Collector’s Series’ of medals that has featured City Hall, the Flatiron Building at St. Lawrence Market, and the Princes’ Gates at the Exhibition.
Also present were some of the Beach Champions, a group of runners who will be participating in the full marathon to raise funds for Community Centre 55. They are Sari Lindvall, Duff McLaren, Anita Emilio, Dave Emilio, and Keith Begley.
To support the Beach champions, please visit www.torontowaterfrontmarathon.com/en/nc/nc8.htm to make a pledge or join the Neighbourhood Cheering & Entertainment Centre located both at Kew Gardens and at Woodbine Park on race day.
