Free the Children’s youngest individual fundraiser, six-year-old Bella Black, will hold her second annual Back-to-School Bake Sale on Sunday, Sept. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. The sale will take place at 134-142 Swanwick Ave., across from Malvern Collegiate’s parking lot.
Bella’s friends and neighbours will be on hand supporting her as she raises money for the Free the Children organization. Along with lots of delectable baked goods, there will be music, a barbecue, face painting and lots more.

Car aficionados will want to stop by the Ted Reeve Arena parking lot on Sunday, Sept. 18 for a Show and Shine car show. All makes and models, vintage and new, will be on display. Come and chat with the owners and drivers. The cars will be parked from 1 to 4 p.m.

R.C.L. Branch 11 will be celebrating Royal Canadian Legion Week from Sept. 19 to 23. The event honours past and present Veterans, and introduces Canadian military history to the public.
There will be displays of memorabilia along with posters, poems and essays produced by local students who competed in a national Remembrance Day contest.
The Branch, located at 9 Dawes Rd., will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and until 8 p.m. on Thursday. Teachers are invited to bring their students in for a visit.

Kew Gardens Tennis Club is holding a Silent Auction to raise funds for Community Centre 55. The auction will run from Monday, Sept. 19 until Friday, Sept. 23 in the evenings, and on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clubhouse, 77 Kew Beach Ave., south of Queen Street at the foot of Waverley Road.

The writings and stories of the book of Genesis will be the focus of a series of 10 Ecumenical Bible Studies at St. John’s Norway Anglican Church from Sept. 19 to Nov. 28.
The sessions will be led by Sister Brenda Duncombe, D.M.J., a graduate of Oxford University in the U.K., and discussion and questions will be encouraged. A $30 fee covers all sessions.
