SUMMARY:Double Bill! – Stop Making Sense (Talking Heads Tribute) & Nothing But Blondie (Tribute) Return to The Duke Live
DESCRIPTION:Double Bill! – Stop Making Sense (Talking Heads Tribute) & Nothing But Blondie (Tribute) Return to The Duke Live on Sat.\, April 11 2026— From the producers of The Bowie Lives\, OutShout Entertainment presents “A show in the spirit of CBGB” Stop Making Sense & Nothing but Blondie. The double bill returns to Toronto for a high-energy night of new wave perfection at The Duke Live. Stop Making Sense delivers the songs you know by heart—performed loud\, crisp\, and unapologetically fun. Fronted by singing sensation Michael Bell (star of The Bowie Lives)\, the band brings the kind of live show that turns a venue into a party: tight musicianship\, big choruses\, and a dance-forward set that never lets up. Closing the night is Nothing But Blondie which features Toronto’s Jaclyn Serre as Blondie\, bringing the iconic Blondie catalogue to life—packed with attitude\, style\, and hit-after-hit singalongs. Together\, it’s a full-throttle tribute night built for fans of classic new wave\, punk-pop\, and the downtown cool that never really went away.\nEVENT DETAILS\nStop Making Sense Talking Heads Tribute (opening)\n+ Nothing But Blondie\nSaturday\, April 11\nThe Duke Live at 1225 Queen St East TORONTO\nTickets: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/double-bill-nothing-but-blondie-stop-making-sense-tickets-1984330260225\nDoors: [7pm | Show: [8:30]\nAges: [19+]

SUMMARY:Poetry Reading and Open Mic - Crossing Lines: Poets Who Came to Canada in the Vietnam War Era
DESCRIPTION:In a time marked by escalating war\, violence\, and global uncertainty\, poetry continues to offer a language for conscience\, resistance\, and refuge. \nPoets will read from their contributions to the anthology Crossing Lines: Poets Who Came to Canada in the Vietnam War Era with readings from: \nEdward Baranosky\nSue Chenette\nRoger Greenwald\nBarry Olshen\nJohn Reibetanz\nAllen Sutterfield \nEach attendee will receive a copy of the anthology. \nTheir lives were shaped by a profound historical choice: each left the United States during the Vietnam War era. In refusing to participate in war\, they crossed borders—geographical\, political\, and moral—and found new homes in Canada. Their writing carries the imprint of that decision: poems shaped by exile and belonging\, protest and quiet witness\, rupture and renewal. \nThrough readings\, reflection\, and conversation\, this gathering honours not only their artistic contributions but also the enduring role of poetry in times of conflict. These voices remind us that art can hold complexity where slogans cannot\, and that dissent—expressed with care and craft—can become part of a country’s cultural inheritance. \nAfter the readers there will be an open mic on the theme of war and peace. \nThis is an opportunity to listen deeply\, to remember\, and to imagine how language might still guide us toward more humane futures
