Ashbridges Bay Victoria Day 2026 fireworks display slated for tonight

This Beach Metro Community News file photo from Victoria Day of 2019 shows the fireworks display over Ashbridges Bay. This year’s Victoria Day display will take place on Monday, May 18, at 10 p.m. sharp.

The annual Victoria Day fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay is scheduled to take place tonight.

Presented by the City of Toronto, the display will begin at 10 p.m. sharp on Monday, May 18, and is expected to last approximately 10 minutes.

The fireworks display is visible all along the Boardwalk and the Eastern Beaches, and draws huge crowds to the area to celebrate Victoria Day.

Those planning on attending are urged to use public transportation or walk to the area.

TTC bus routes serving the Beach area are the 64 Main, the 92A Woodbine, and the 22A Coxwell.  More information about TTC schedules and routes is available on the TTC’s webpage at https://www.ttc.ca/

Ashbridges Bay Park is located at 1561 Lake Shore Blvd. E. at the foot of Endaabiimok Avenue (formerly Lower Coxwell) at Lake Ontario.

Those attending tonight’s display are being reminded by the City of Toronto that it is illegal at all times for residents to light off personal fireworks on public property, including parks and beaches.

Fireworks are also prohibited on balconies, streets, parking lots, or property not owned by the person setting off the fireworks. On Victoria Day and Canada Day only, people can set off fireworks on their own private property until 11 p.m., according to the City of Toronto’s bylaw.

For more information on the city’s fireworks bylaw and safety tips, please go to https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/public-notices-bylaws/bylaw-enforcement/fireworks/

Also, those attending tonight’s fireworks display are reminded that bringing alcohol to the beach and area parks prohibited, and fires are not permitted in parks, beaches or public spaces (unless in specifically designated fire pits with a permit).

Police will have an increased presence in the Ashbridges Bay area and along the Boardwalk both before and after the Victoria Day fireworks display.
