The Steve & Sally Stavro Family YMCA on Kingston Road has started a Teen Night program on Friday evenings.
The free program is for youth between the ages of 13 to 18 and participants do not have to be YMCA members.
“Our mission is to create a safe space to the youth on a Friday night, they can have deeper social ties with peers, improved sense of belonging to their community, healthier habits and more.” said Emilia Quiroz of the YMCA of Greater Toronto in message to Beach Metro Community News.
The Teen Nights have already started to take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday nights at the Steve & Sally Stavro Family YMCA, 907 Kingston Rd.
The YMCA Teen Night Councils Team, a group of 16 youth ages 14 to 18, will be putting on an event (tentatively scheduled for May 26) to promote the opportunities of Teen Night for local young people.
The aim of the May 26 event is to present Teen Night to the Beaches community and there will be activities taking place including a volleyball tournament, dog therapy, and art workshops.
