Massive Beach power outage could last until this afternoon

This file photo shows Toronto Hydro crews working on Kingston Road last November. Toronto Hydro is now working on today's (Tuesday, March 26) power outage in the Beach.

A huge power outage in the Beach may not be resolved until this afternoon.

Power went out in an area bounded between Coxwell and Victoria Park avenues, and south from Danforth Avenue to Lake Ontario early this morning (Tuesday, March 26).

Toronto Hydro is investigating the cause but it is not known yet.

As of now, 3 p.m. this afternoon is the time being given for power to be restored locally.

The power outage is causing numerous problems for thousands of residents and businesses, especially impacting traffic along Kingston Road which is a mess this morning due to traffic lights not working.

Everyone is advised to use extreme caution if driving or crossing intersections, which should be treated as four-way stops where traffic lights are not working.

The power is out at the Beach Metro News offices this morning as well, and we will work to keep you updated as this situation continues.
