Gledhill school holding skate drive this week

Gledhill Junior Public School is looking for donations of children's and youth's skates and helmets in advance of their upcoming skate day.

The first annual Gledhill Junior Public School Skate Drive will be taking place from Jan. 28 to Feb 1.

The drive is being held in advance of the school’s Skate Day, organized by the Gledhill School Council, on Thursday, March 7.

Students from Grades 1 -5 will walk from the Gledhill Avenue school to nearby Ted Reeve Arena with their classes for the half day of skating fun.

During the week of Jan. 28 to Feb. 1, there will be a bin outside the school gymnasium (2 Gledhill Ave. just north of Danforth Avenue and west of Main Street) where skates can be dropped off.

Those wishing to donate skates can also drop them off at the school’s main office.

All sizes of children and youth skates are needed.

The Gledhill School Council aims to have all kids who wish to skate outfitted with skates so they can have fun with their classmates on March 7.

For more information, please call the school at 416-393-1745.
