Man arrested after bank robbery near Broadview and Gerrard

A 48-year-old man was arrested Thursday evening after a bank robbery in the Broadview and Gerrard area.

Toronto police have arrested a man in connection with a bank robbery that took place last week in the Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street area.

Police allege that on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 17, at approximately 6:10 p.m., a man entered a bank in the Broadview and Gerrard area, approached an employee, demanded money and threatened to shoot the employee.

A man then jumped over the counter, and grabbed cash from a cash box drawer before he fled the bank, police alleged.

Officers from 55 Division, who were in the area at the time, and saw a man fleeing the bank arrested him immediately.

Toronto police announced the arrest in a press release from the Hold Up Squad on Monday, Jan. 21.

Carlos Olivera, 48, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery and disguise with intent.
