Police Beat

A man was robbed in the early morning hours of Sept. 7. Just after 4:30 a.m., the man was near Greenwood and Danforth Avenues when a group of males approached. Two grabbed the victim and took his cell phone before the group fled westbound on Danforth.

Six young people, 17 to 19 years old, were near Lumsden and Gledhill Avenues at about 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 7 when two males, one armed with a gun, approached. The suspects took property from the victims, then fled the scene eastbound on Lumsden with three cell phones and three wallets, leaving the victims unharmed.

A 50-year-old man was robbed on Sept. 13. At about 10 a.m., the man was near Kingston Road and Main Street when a female approached and knocked him to the ground. The suspect took property from the victim and ran northbound on Main. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the attack.

A 13-year-old male was near Dawes Road and Victoria Park Avenue on Sept. 13 when three males approached. One suspect searched the victim’s pockets, taking a cell phone and wallet. The second suspect pointed a handgun at the victim before the suspects fled westbound on Ferris Road.

Two teens were near Coxwell Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard East at about 9 p.m. on Sept. 13 when three males approached. One demanded a cell phone, and a struggle broke out when the victim refused. One of the victims was punched in the head, and had a cell phone taken from his pocket. The suspects fled the scene, leaving the victims with no serious injuries.

Police are reporting an alleged sexual assault in a church near Danforth and Birchmount Roads, and believe there may be more victims. Police allege that on Sept. 3, a woman attended All Saints Romanian Orthodox Church, where the reverend assaulted her. A couple entered the church and interrupted the assault. Ioan Pop, 54, of Toronto, faces a charge of Sexual Assault. Police believe there may be more victims. Anyone with any information should contact 41 Division police at 416-808-4100
