There are still a few days left to check out Louis Doransky’s paintings at Gerrard Art Space, at 1390 Gerrard St. E., between Coxwell and Greenwood.
Born in Slovakia, Doransky was raised in Montreal and has been painting for 50 years. He was mentored by Quebec’s Gabriel Filion, a member of the province’s Prisme d’Yeux group of painters.
His work is abstract, experimental and informed by decades of world travel. Doransky’s last exhibit was at the Toronto Gallery of Fine Art in 1969. To celebrate his 70th birthday and 50th year of painting, he has chosen to show his work in the East End after decades of only private sales. The show is titled Up Close & Far Away, and runs until June 30.
