Veteran searches for funds to publish book

Former Beacher and Second World War veteran Jack Aldred was recently featured in the Everyone Has A Story To Tell column, in which he expressed his intention of writing a book to raise funds for his local legion.

The great news is that Aldred has finished his book, This is my story, This is my song: Tales of Todmorden Veterans. The not-so-great news is that he hasn’t raised the funding to print it. He is hoping to print 200 copies of the book, which cost $10 each to print.

A grant request from Veterans Affairs Canada was rejected because Aldred would be selling the book for profit – a profit that would go 100 per cent to the legion hall for roof restoration.

Aldred continues his search for funds and hopes to get the book launched in the near future.
