Lick’s location gets condo application

On June 13 at 7 p.m. there will be a community consultation meeting held at the Beaches Rec Centre, 6 Williamson Rd. The purpose of the meeting is to get public comment on a planning application for 1960 and 1962 Queen St. E.

The applicant proposes to construct a six-storey condominium with 29 residential units, retail at grade and underground parking.

This site is located on the northeast corner of Queen and Kenilworth, and many readers will now be getting a panic attack. Yes, it is the location for Lick’s in the Beach.

However, do not despair. While the original location for the Lick’s chain may be undergoing some changes, Denise Meehan, owner of Lick’s, reassures customers that the popular restaurant will remain in the area, hopefully for another 30 years.

“We are a fixture in the Beach…and are looking forward to a new home still at that location or very close to it.”

The proposal is just at the beginning of the approval stage, and any construction at the site is probably at least two years away, so eat your Homeburger in peace.
